Subject: DM Ordinance
Dear Mayor and Council,
The Northwest Neighborhood Association, which lies about one and three quarter miles to the Northwest of the proposed expanded noise zone, voted in our September meeting to adopt a proposal expressing concern at the potential for increased noise over the neighborhood. Although the vote was close in favor, I don't think anybody who voted no was for increased noise. Some people thought since we are in a stressed area already, our efforts would be better spent dealing with more immediate problems such as crime, drugs, and street noise.
Certainly it seems reasonable to listen to the unanimous reccomendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission and vote to delay the new expanded noise environs ordinance because of the adverse affects on property values and quality of life in this city that we all enjoy. The Mayor himself ackowledged in an interview that there were no plans to shut down Davis Monthan, and because of all the other favorable qualities, from weather to support from many in the community, I doubt DM is in danger of being shut down. Thank you for considering quality of life and property values in your decision instead of just economic factors.
Sincerely,
Dan Dorsey
President, Northwest Neighborhood Association
